Designed to replace an ageing bach on the same existing site, the concept is ‘the space between’.
Two separate modules are orientated to strengthen the connection to land and sea, providing large areas of outdoor living space to suit all wind and sun conditions. Living and sleeping conditions are separated and stitched back together via the shared outdoor living spaces. Roof forms reflect the topography of the site and hint at the simplicity of camping, folded planes pitched up to create dynamic multifunction spaces touching the ground lightly, the living platforms will nestle into the existing trees subtly. Exterior and interior design and materials will be paired back, reflecting the functional and practical nature of the kiwi bach.
