Replacement of an existing boatshed, walkway and jetty, the latter being for community use. Discussions about this project began in 2014, the brief for the boatshed was for a simple, elegant, recessive and thoughtfully resolved design. All items related to the boatshed and its use were to have designated storage locations and for those to be integrated and seamless. The boat needed to be to be launched and landed with just one person. The design needed to be low maintenance and enhance the space between it and the immediate surrounding area. Given its proximity to the seafront it needed to be recessive when viewed from the public domain but link to the existing typologies on the site. The front double opening gable doors reference the triple gable of the existing house on site when open. The gaboon ply lining transitions seamlessly into concealed and display storage and the side hatches open up, providing a ninteraction zone out of the wind.
